The Client’s Challenges

Newborns have very different diapering needs compared to older infants. During development, the client encountered several key difficulties.

After a thorough assessment of the requirements, we developed a custom newborn diaper focused on three pillars: softness, absorbency, and leakage prevention.

Ultra‑Soft Topsheet

We selected a premium grade ultra‑soft nonwoven topsheet to minimise friction and improve skin comfort.

Optimised Absorbent Core

The core formulation was redesigned with an optimised blend of superabsorbent polymer (SAP) and fluff pulp to achieve:

Added Acquisition Distribution Layer (ADL)

An ADL was incorporated between the topsheet and the core to accelerate liquid transfer and promote even spreading.

Evaluates how much liquid returns to the surface under pressure.

Method: After the diaper has fully absorbed a set amount of liquid, place filter paper on the surface, apply standard pressure for 2 minutes, and weigh the filter paper to determine rewet.
